I was raised in a good family with two loving parents. Growing up I was athletic and involved in organized sports. While in college, I spent a semester abroad and was first introduced to heroin. Upon returning to the United States, I continued to use heroin. Eventually I was treated and placed on Methadone, which I ended up abusing too. Each detox was very graphic and life threatening. I knew each time that the toll on my body was worse and worse.
In early 2006, I was rushed to the Emergency Room. As I lay on the bed, I watched my blood pressure climb as the ER staff cut my clothes from my body. Five days later, I woke up in an ICU with no memory of the seven seizures I had coming off methadone and benzodiazepines. Four days after being released from the hospital, I was using again.
In late November, my family flew me to Atlanta and handed me over to ExecuCare. At first I was very skeptical about this treatment since it was all natural and rendered on an outpatient basis.
